S = Six

_MG_8026

Before bb S, I was an “S” and occasionally “XS”. Now I am “M” and occasionally “L”. I still have 6kg to go. I tried exercise but always distracted by work, travel and irresistible lunch plans with friends. I tried dieting but always succumbed to delicious home cook food at end of the day!  As I am typing this, I’m gobbling up some famous Otah from Jln Kayu…

I need divine intervention.

But then again, in a bigger scheme of things, six is just a number, a small number :)

Joys of blogging

A friend asked me how do I find time to blog? Given that I ‘write’ for a living, wouldn’t I want to take a break from writing?

Nope. I enjoy blogging and I don’t know how I find time, I just try to. What started out as a monologue has become an essential part of my daily life, more so after the arrival of bb S. Blogging has made me appreciate the little details in our ordinary everyday routine, wanting to live more passionately and see good things in life rather than going through motion day by day. Each blog post is a springboard for memories, each photo taken is a captured moment for keepsake and each story shared is my simple daily gratitude.

When do I think of what to write? Although it is usually on the spur of a moment but blogging has made my otherwise spaced out time in commuting journey in a cab or train or standing in a queue less of a bore.

Blogging has also led me to some fantastic blogs from strangers, far far away, sharing their life experiences, beautiful pictures, secretly satisfying the inner nosiness in me. It’s also therapeutic to see how others lead their carefree life, a deviation to our restrictive-Singaporean style.

A few of my daily reads (there are alot more than the list, which I'll share in time to come)...

25 random things phenomenon

I was "verbally" tagged by SL to write 25 random things about me. Apparently it's a new craze in FB where you’re supposed to write 25 random things about you that people don't already know.

5. My first exposure to English public speaking was in Primary 3 with “Princess and the pea”
6. I earned A$70 a week as part-time waitress in a Japanese restaurant for living expenses in Australia during my uni-days
7. I believe in healing and holy communion
8. I knew how to ride a bicycle instantaneously by watching others when I was 7 (I think it’s a miracle)
9. I lived with my grandma and saw my parents twice a year as they worked in Brunei for about 15 years
10. I'm still scared of jabs
11. I pray in tongues
12. I wanted to do law for my tertiary study but it was too expensive
13. I read my first Sydney Sheldon- “If tomorrow comes” at 16
14. I finished grade 6 in piano and liked sight reading
15. I can't live without friends
16. I don't like chocolate
17. I take my coffee black, no sugar please
18. I attended 2 lessons of hip-hop years ago
19. I like British accent
20. I was a marching commander in girl guides
21. I was a c-section baby
22. I still cry over a bad hair cut
23. Seating alone at Battery Park and looking across the waters toward Statue of Liberty was one of my happiest moments in life
24. I don't eat liver
25. I still miss my maternal grandma

You're welcome to share with me your 25-things but I'm merciful –I'll settle with 10.

Me, in a nutshell

My self: I’m a Penangite, half-converted (mentally) Singaporean. I’m married to a tall, dark handsome man- Marcel (eyes of a beholder).

My family: Dad- full of wisdom. Mom- kitchen is her sanctuary and majong is her relaxation. Elder bro- loves cartoon even at 40+. Elder sis- surrounded by men who love her (hubby and 2 boys).

My passion: Wedding planning, flowers, cooking, my God

My likes: Trashy magazines, chic flicks, pretty little things

My work: I'm an equity analyst. I write reports about stocks, what to buy, what to sell. I’m “supposed” to know the future ups and downs of share prices and have my views penned down. So how do I know the future? I try my best to analyse the numbers and pray...

My pride: My friends.

My new love: French and Sake
