August fruits

August is a month full of goodness, worth jumping for joy!

  • *I was rated no. 1 in the Starmine ranking for best earnings estimator in Singapore 2011.
  • *I had the revelation that if I am quick to give glory to Jesus for the good things in my life,  I should be quick to cast my cares to Him.
  • *Dad managed to tag along on my 3-day business trip to Hong Kong for some father-daughter bonding.
  • *Miracles seed sowed for the Star.

Best of all, something that I have been longing for,  for a very long time came to past this month, which I shall blog about it very soon. No. I’m not pregnant yet.

Digging Siput

Our must-do in Penang- digging for Siput (small clams) by the beach. The kids love it and can spend hours bending with their feet stuck in the sand, searching for these tiny shellfish. On good days, they could pick up some 30+ clams which would be served as a dish (fried with garlic, ginger and soy sauce) during dinner. It is rewarding to see their accomplished expressions, as they savoured their harvest like the the yummiest food on earth.

Sweet dreams

We have quite good success in our project S.L.E.E.P in the past few weeks since we moved into our new home. S has been able to sleep through most of the nights. We went overboard to ensure that the room is enticing.  A kitchen set from Ikea that took 3 hours to assemble, colourful tent for hiding, and the most important of all – DORA quilt cover* (only available in Spotlight Singapore!). The added incentive for her to sleep in the room is Play-Doh–  new colour or mould each day she sleeps through. My stock of Play-Doh colours and moulds are running low….

Revival of patriotism

Either daddy M is aging or I am only starting to discover that my husband is passionate of his country. I hissed at his idea of hanging the Singapore flag outside our house to welcome National Day next week. Apart from not wanting to ‘taint’ our new home’s landscape, I simply couldn’t equate hanging flags to patriotism.

From my recollection, my dad and father in-law are the only two people who would proudly display their country’s flag to 'celebrate' national day. I attribute the action to their life experience in seeing how their countries respectively fought for independence in the 1950s and 60s.

Since he couldn’t convince me with a big flag in the new house, daddy M secretly bought a mini-flag and stuck it on the CAR while I was away on a short business strip!!

I crack up every time I see the car now, thinking “ OMG, my husband is becoming an uncle! Please God, don’t let anyone I know see me hoping into/out of this car!”. Perhaps patriotism has long been forgotten, since my move to Singapore. I think I will be torn as to which country’s flag to hang at gunpoint.
