Praha

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a birthday card from Icon hotel yesterday. This is the 2nd birthday card from the hotel we stayed in Prague! Such sweet gesture and effective marketing strategy. The card is autographed by 7 of the hotel employees (entire team??).

What do I remember about this place? It was a small boutique hotel with very friendly staff and nice Hastens slumber bed ( I was told each bed can cost up to US$15k!). Oh ya, it was also in this hotel that we had a Thai massage (by Indonesian ladies) after miles of cobbled street-walking.

IF they continue to send me birthday cards in the years to come, I'll definitely return to Prague...

730 days

Caveat: this post may be cheesy to some but who cares …

We have spent 730 days as a married couple and celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday. There’s nothing fancy but sweet surprises here and there. Planning surprises have always been my forte, but I think M has successfully inherited some of my genes over the past few years. He surprised me by leaving presents around the house for me to discover, I surprised him with YL lunch delivery (thanks again P!) etc…

I don’t believe in the notions of “everyday is anniversary” or “everyday is valentine’s day”. It’s just an excuse for people not to celebrate. I think every special date is a milestone, a time to remember how far you’ve come together. And it’s worth celebrating.

Recently Shih told me something simple but profound:- Marriage is a wall full of paintings. As time passes, the colours may wear off due to exposure to the weather. So the wall needs to be touched up frequently, to preserve the beautiful painting…

Lost & found

I've been rejecting the claim that "pregnancy makes one forgetful", but the horror of horrors happened. I lost my glasses in YWCA last week in a rush (long story). I was despair for a few days, trying to search online for the exact same pair, I even asked the optical shop to call their overseas supplier to check for stock availability! Ok, you may be rolling your eyes thinking that I'm nuts. For those who don't know, I can't wear contacts for a long duration due to cornea erosion and with a flat nose bridge, it's hard to find a comfy pair of glasses.

BUT Praise the Lord as I got a call from YWCA yesterday - they found it!! And super M picked it up for me knowing how IMPORTANT it is to me :)

Moral of the story: don't sweat over small stuff, God restores :)

I'm having an Indian baby

"Mojo's an Indian baby!"- the latest joke betwee M & I. It sounds silly given that I'm MARRIED to an Indian... This is all due to my significant change in appetite. For a person who doesn't have sweet tooth, I like ICE CREAM now! (only vanila flavour). And I caught myself eating Roti Prata 3 days in a row! PLUS I crave for Chicken Vindaloo because I finally found a match to the ones in London at Shahi Maharani, Raffles City, though a bit pricy. Last night, we went around Little India hunting for more affordable versions but couldn't find any. There were mutton Vindaloo but not chicken...

I wonder if the day will ever come to see M jumping for joy as I ask for mutton (no.1 in the food-i-dislike list pre-pregnancy)...

ICB

It must have been a long long while since I last stepped foot into a bar... or out on a week night. Yes I went to a bar- Ice Cold Beer. A place which used to be very familiar to me five or more years ago... It was a place full with memories, a place where :-

- I thought served the best chicken wings and beef stew in town (then)
- I brought my sis when she visited me in 2002. I think that might be her first time into a pub!
- I met M's ex for the 1st time , and he met mine too!
- Wl and I would meet almost every week
- WTC broke the news that she's preggers with Lewin
- I would bring Shih whenever she's in town
- I would drink beer (me no like beer)
- I think I was even contemplating to bring my dad for the chic wings!
